When I decided to film these gentle yoga videos, I knew that I needed to find a special teacher. I wanted to find someone who really understood our needs. I wanted to find a person with the charisma and experience to keep us motivated… someone who lives and breathes yoga every day. And, I wanted to find a kind and genuine person who you would want to spend time with every day.
About the channel: Dana Falsetti, the women behind Yoga Trees, came to yoga after years of struggling to love her body — and her practice helped her finally find inner peace. Her channel is mostly her quick Instagram tutorials, which are super helpful. You can also find her longer classes at Cody (see below). Falsetti has been featured in many online and print publications, including Shape, Mind Body Green, and more.

As I said above, I have only been impressed by the B Mat. The B Mat Everyday is constructed with 100% rubber (both natural and synthetic), without using harsh chemicals, finishes or sealants, and feels good under my skin. The B Mat Everyday also provides decent padding, even though it's only 4mm thick and 4.1 lbs (if you are looking for more padding, get the 2mm-thicker B Mat Strong reviewed above). Like it’s thicker cousin, this mat feels durable, is surprisingly light and has incredible grip in both wet and dry conditions.

Crank Up Core Strength: an athletic, dynamic routine with some arm balances that will tire you out. I think it’s best suited for someone who is already in good shape but is trying out yoga for the first time. The flow requires two blocks, which can stabilize you in poses when one hand is on the ground or help improve overall alignment. Until I got a great set of cork blocks, I used big, heavy books instead.
Beyond Yoga Essential Long Legging: "These pants are by far my FAVORITE yoga pants. I think I own maybe 7-10 pairs of just the "Essential" legging, and many pairs of other styles/colors. The fabric is to die for. They don't feel like your typical yoga pant, and you'll never want to take them off. They aren't just for working out. Since they don't have a side seam, they are the perfect legging to wear with a sweater/tunic. They also pass the "bend over" test...you can't see through them.
Calling all newbies: You don’t have to head to a studio to learn the basics. Just follow along with Kino MacGregor in this video. In just 12 minutes, you’ll get the low-down on controlling the breath, sun salutations, and more. We love that MacGregor explains both the purpose and the benefits of each pose, all while moving through a simple yet strengthening flow. (via BeFit)
Stretching it out is the name of the game here—and that’s something both beginners and yoga pros can always use. Your instructor, Cole Chance, also gives detailed directions (including important reminders to be gentle) that help ensure you’re engaging the right muscles. After 30 minutes’ worth of hurts-so-good poses, you’ll feel more nimble and relaxed. (via Yoga TX)
I bought this mat around 2 years ago when I started actively practicing. It has been through a lot with me, even a yoga teacher training! The pattern on the mat is beautiful and soothing, always gives me a good vibe when I roll the mat out. It has been a long time so it has gotten some little cracks in it, and over time it can feel thin when you need to be on the mat for an entire day. But I still love it because of the sentimental values. Now I am back to buy another one from Hugger Mugger – probably a thicker one.

Ask any yoga devotee, and they’ll likely agree on one thing: The practice works your body, mind, and spirit. MacGregor makes a point of this at the beginning of the workout and inspires you to take on a new challenge—all while reminding you not to stress throughout the harder poses. You’ll build total-body strength with planks and chaturangas, and slowly work your way into more advanced poses (like crane pose and headstands). Challenging? Absolutely. Worth it? Oh, yeah! It is not easy to recreate the feel that a rubber mat provides, and the Aurorae Synergy isn’t as supportive or stable as its rubber competitors. The mat can move around under your hands and feet if you put it microfiber-side-down, and you’ll slide if you use it microfiber-side-up in dry conditions. It’s also a challenge keeping it clean, since it absorbs so much sweat, but this might be worth it for hot yogis who are tired of slipping during sweaty practices.
