When I first started to do yoga again after several decades of inactivity, I had concerns. Was I too old for yoga to be effective? Would the extra pounds that I had picked up over the years prevent me from doing the moves properly? Was I too stiff to enjoy yoga? Would I be embarrassed to join a yoga class and be surrounded by younger people doing advanced moves? Now that I have been doing yoga for a few months, I have never felt better.

I buy Victoria's Secret leggings/yoga pants that really fade over time, show crotch sweat when I do cardio, lift, or even just wear them on a hot day with flip flops. I think they're very durable (another reason they're worth it - thin & durable), but I can understand the comment.

PVC is cheaper and more durable but may be exposed to toxins during manufacturing and be less beneficial for the environment. The grippiest, most comfortable yoga mat in the world is still a pain if you’re constantly struggling to lug it to and from class. If you intend on commuting with your mat, you may want to consider one that is lighter or comes with a carrying case. Just remember that if it doesn’t, a carrying case will cost extra. Weight and thickness also come into play. Heavier and thicker mats will be a bit bulkier to travel with than sleeker, thinner ones.

Begin in mountain pose with your hands on your hips. Step your left foot back about three feet and place it down at a 45-degree angle, so that your left arch is in line with your right heel. Your right toes should be pointing to the front of the mat. Both legs are straight. Turn your chest to face the left side. Reach your right out in front of your body and your left arm out behind you, so that they are parallel to the mat in a “T” position with your palms facing down.
While in the pose, find balance by maintaining mountain pose alignment. Squeeze your glutes and engage your left quad muscle. Engage your abs and lengthen your spine. Keep your shoulders pressed down away from the ears. To help with balance, press your right foot into the left inner thigh with the same effort as the inner thigh presses into the foot.
I just got mine so cannot review on how long it lasts. I love the color. I prefer a thin mat so I feel grounded and can hold my poses but when I do restorative or other yogas that I feel I need a bit more cushion I just place this one on top of another thin one and it is perfect. I am not experiencing that my mat is slick like some other reviews stated. I like sticky mats and I think this one is perfect and I do not slide around at all. I am 5'7 and fit on this mat fine but wish they offered a longer mat as I prefer a little more length.

When I started the quest for the best free online yoga resources, I set some criteria to quickly narrow my search. I wanted videos that were about an hour long to mimic the length of the studio classes I was used to. I was looking for videos that were an athletic challenge but also provided good routines for relaxation. And since I was new to my yoga practice, I wanted videos that broke down the basics of every pose.
