Begin in mountain pose with your hands on your hips. Step your left foot back about three feet and place it down at a 45-degree angle, so that your left arch is in line with your right heel. Your right toes should be pointing to the front of the mat. Both legs are straight. Turn your chest to face the left side. Reach your right out in front of your body and your left arm out behind you, so that they are parallel to the mat in a “T” position with your palms facing down.
In addition to providing real boosts in strength and flexibility, both yoga and Pilates have been shown to reduce stress, improve concentration, stimulate the immune system and create an overall sense of well-being. Once considered somewhat alternative fitness activities, both yoga and Pilates have become fundamental components of physical fitness regimens for beginners to elite athletes. Power Systems can help by providing the best in yoga and Pilates mats, yoga chairs, Pilates machines, and much more to help you make the most of these important activities.
If you are looking for a supportive, grippy and non-toxic mat, this may be the one for you. The Jade Fusion Yoga Mat has a lot of fantastic qualities. Number one, it’s made mostly from natural rubber, with no PVC, making it eco-friendly and biodegradable - in fact, Jade was the first company in the industry to offer non-toxic mats! It’s thick, incredibly supportive for bones and joints and has amazing grip in both wet and dry conditions. With their ‘Plant a Tree for Every Mat Sold’ initiative, U.S.-base production, and support for programs that bring yoga to those who couldn’t otherwise have access, the company has a strong tradition of responsible industry practices. To read more, visit their page 'What We Care About'.
Hands are shoulder-width distance apart and feet are hip-width distance. Look back at your toes and keep your ears in line with your arms. Press your palms into the mat and create a straight line from your wrists, to your shoulders, to your hips. Engage your core muscles. Press your heels down toward the mat (even if they don’t touch the floor) and attempt to straighten the legs without locking them.
Practice yoga on Gaia anywhere, anytime with your favorite streaming yoga videos. Yoga on Gaia is streaming yoga with soul. It’s yoga every day with some of the world's best teachers and guides. Roll out your mat and choose your style, amount of time you have to practice, your teacher and level to get started. No matter where you are in your yoga journey, beginner to advanced, we have a selection for you!

Bring your shoulders, hips, and heels into a straight line (imagine that there is a straight line from your head to heels). Keep your shoulders over your wrists. Engage your abdominals. Press your palms into the ground to engage your triceps and biceps. Press your shoulder blades down the back, and lengthen your sternum forward to keep your chest open. Look toward the front of the mat.

In my opinion, the Jade Level One Yoga Mat is the best inexpensive yoga mat on the market. At less than 60$, the Jade Level One has good padding for the joints, great grip when dry or wet, impressive durability, weighs a moderate four pounds, and is made from eco-friendly materials by a company that cares about their impact on people and the planet. Like all mats by Jade, the Level One Mat is made from sustainable resources with no PVC.

Polyvinyl chloride is a synthetic material commonly used in yoga mats because it keeps slippage to a minimum, is durable, provides the most “give,” and tends to be the cheapest material. A concern with PVC, without going into too much detail, is that it contains phthalates — substances that have been linked to health issues and negative impacts on the environment.

If you’re looking to try yoga for the first time, it might be less intimidating to try a few beginning yoga poses or yoga videos at home before going to a studio. In fact, Beachbody created its at-home yoga program, 3 Week Yoga Retreat, just for that reason! But before you dive into doing a full yoga video, it may also be helpful to get familiar with the most common yoga poses to learn proper form before starting your first yoga class. This way, you’re more likely to prevent injury and you won’t feel completely lost during a yoga session. Take a look at the yoga videos for beginners below to master 15 common yoga poses and begin to build the foundation of your yoga practice.
Luckily, YouTube is a treasure trove of awesome (and free!) workouts—and that includes yoga routines. We compiled 21 of our favorite, super-effective videos: With options ranging from quickie sessions to ones that focus on relaxation to those that target specific trouble areas, there’s bound to be one that works for you. Consider this the green light for plenty of at-home om-ing.
Forget about any bad experiences you’ve had in the past with yoga clothing. Yogiwear will make you forget about what you’re wearing when you need to focus in the studio, and it will stand out to others to make a statement about you. Our variety of colorful pants, capris, sexy bras, tanks and matching outfits are bound to take your yoga practice and personal comfort to the next level.

Sweet dreams are made of these... yoga poses. You’ll move through shoulder-opening poses to relieve stress, gentle forward bends (which host Jason Crandell says will quiet nerves), and hip openers that’ll help slash tension. Plus, the fact that Crandell’s detailed, easy-to-follow instruction is as soothing as the sequence itself helps set you up for some quality shut-eye. (via Yoga Journal)
This project began as a set of workshops and performances. Thanks to its overwhelming popularity it has evolved into a series of three yoga tutorial videos. I am seeking your support because I want to make a second series of yoga videos, this time at a professional quality level, so they can reach more people who are suffering at home, alone, having been made to feel like economic failures.

When I started the quest for the best free online yoga resources, I set some criteria to quickly narrow my search. I wanted videos that were about an hour long to mimic the length of the studio classes I was used to. I was looking for videos that were an athletic challenge but also provided good routines for relaxation. And since I was new to my yoga practice, I wanted videos that broke down the basics of every pose.
Women's yoga clothing from Old Navy is an excellent investment because of the range of options for integrating them into your everyday wardrobe. Of course, a full zip compression jacket is a great choice for warming up before or cooling down after a session, but is also ideal for running errands or casual weekend wear. Stylish yoga tops from this collection can be worn for drinks after a session thanks to their quick drying material, and their distinctive colors and embellishments will keep their eye catching appeal long term thanks to their wash and wear design. Yoga pants have become a staple of modern style with the sleek and streamlined silhouette they can create. Teaming a pair up with a flowing top showing off a modern cut and a fun, vibrant color creates a no fuss ensemble that works in a variety of venues. Complete the look with a cute pair of flats in a textured material such as leather or suede to give the pairing depth, or choose a pair of low profile athletic sneakers to play up the sporty aesthetic. Build a seamless rotation of active and casual looks with yoga apparel for women from Old Navy.
Over the years, I have tested mats from just about every well-established brand and many from lesser-known up-and-comers. I have watched technologies, materials and designs evolve to meet the needs of an ever growing number of yogis, and I have observed how brands have risen (or failed to rise) to the challenge of a more sustainable future. If you’re ever going to find that perfect mat for you, I can tell you there’s never been a better time than right now.
It may be a bit of a late reply - I have a Manduka Eko and the Manduka towel. When I'm not that sweaty I find the mat itself is super grippy, but gets slippy when wet. But the towel is awesome, and gets stickier as I get sweatier! It's even been brilliant for the occasional hot yoga class - but mostly I just mean full on Fiji flow class sweaty :) Not the cheapest or lightest option, but really works for me. The towel can then also be easily washed, and, unlike some other towels I've tried, doesn't move or get twisted during practice.
Best of all, this mat is produced by a company with an eco, and human-friendly vision. Liforme cares about the company’s impact on the planet, and they have tackled the challenge of a sustainable, non-toxic yoga mat by diving into the research and doing their own independent study. The result is a mat made from low-odor, non-toxic, PVC-free material that is heat bonded without the use of any toxic adhesives and biodegrades in normal landfill conditions in 1-5 years! Liforme even send their eco mats to you without the irony of plastic packaging, which is always a plus!

Stretching it out is the name of the game here—and that’s something both beginners and yoga pros can always use. Your instructor, Cole Chance, also gives detailed directions (including important reminders to be gentle) that help ensure you’re engaging the right muscles. After 30 minutes’ worth of hurts-so-good poses, you’ll feel more nimble and relaxed. (via Yoga TX)
When searching for free yoga resources, the video-sharing behemoth YouTube is a good place to start. But type “yoga” into YouTube’s search bar, and you get back more than eight million results. Many of these are one-off videos rather than easy-to-follow programs for beginners. There are, however, two free yoga programs that are worth checking out: Yoga for Dummies and Dr. Melissa West’s channel.
While the holidays are amazing, they inevitably come with their own unique set of stressors, from family drama to gift shopping. Taking time for yourself is especially important during stressful times, and yoga can help. In this video, Equinox trainer Noemi Henriquez demonstrates an 11-minute flow that was specifically designed to challenge your body and help you unwind during the busy holiday season.

Answer: Great question! I actually struggled with this quite a bit. On the one hand, I probably could charge quite a bit more for these videos, based on their high-quality level and the depth of the content. The truth is that we want as many people to benefit from them as possible. That’s why I’m keeping the price low. For the price of a book, you can have over 5 hours of gentle yoga for seniors videos.

While in the pose, find balance by maintaining mountain pose alignment. Squeeze your glutes and engage your left quad muscle. Engage your abs and lengthen your spine. Keep your shoulders pressed down away from the ears. To help with balance, press your right foot into the left inner thigh with the same effort as the inner thigh presses into the foot.

About the channel: Nazaahah Amin is a leader in the wellness community for women of color. "Yoga is an excellent tool that can foster sisterhood and promote healing in the Black community," she writes on her website. She invites women to join her tribe by either coming to her DC- and Baltimore-based classes, or joining in online on her website or YouTube. Her channel is a mixture of classes and motivational messages and reflections.
Specifically designed for pregnant ladies (like Kristoffer herself!), this sequence helps define arms and open the shoulders to counteract any hunching that might occur as a result of carrying extra weight. Similar to a regular flow class, it involves poses like lunges, downward-facing dog, and chaturanga (modified with your bump in mind). Be sure to talk to your doc first before attempting. What it is: YogaVibes streams online yoga classes through their subscription service, but in case you don't want to join, they also offer free videos. They divide their videos by category, so you can just pick what you're in the mood for each day — say, "vinyasa flow" — and go for it. Some of the classes are group classes, whereas others feature just one teacher. There are over 5,000 classes total, taught by over 100 professional yoga instructions, and they have an app, too, so you can download classes to use offline.

Dear road warriors and treadmill champs: You’re tight. (And by that, we mean your lower-body muscles are tight!) This routine boosts flexibility in the quads, hamstrings, glutes, and calves. The key? Spending some quality time in the poses and—as instructor Erin Motz notes—remembering to breathe deeply throughout so you don’t restrict blood flow to these areas. (via DoYouYoga.com)

Watch this video tutorial which asks you to explore the distrust you live with, and that we all live with, from living in a society that constantly offers bad support, or support that actually takes away more than it offers in the form of debt. What would it look like to reach a wall, and to know that beyond that wall we didn't have to live like this? In this set of exercises we do intense breath, visualization, and movement to connect with and imagine a world beyond financialization. *This video comes with free access to our introduction and warm-up videos.
In addition to our personal and wholesale yoga mats, we also supply tote bags that allow you to roll your mats up and carry them between classes. Our reusable water bottles provide a sustainable alternative to carrying disposable water bottles to your yoga classes. You can order useful accessories such as disposable wipes for your mat and equipment, and our YogaMate mat even comes with a handy towel and tote bag.
